Inside “The Slanted Door,” voted by the Bartender Association as the most popular restaurant and bar in San Francisco. Great Vietnamese fusion food.

Erik Adkins, bar manager extraordinaire at The Slanted Door, awarded two weeks ago by Tales of the Cocktail as the Best Restaurant Bar in the US. Erik created my first cocktail, and I mean my first ever!

Running into Clint

14 Aug

Pam and I had dinner at Mission Ranch in Carmel, CA. As I walked through a bar to get to the restroom, I accidentally bumped into a man whose back was turned toward me. He turned and I realized it was Clint Eastwood! It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that I literally bumped into Dirty Harry while on vacation. Sorry, no picture with him, but he definitely made my day.

San Francisco Vacation 2012

13 Aug

At “A16” restaurant, one of my favorite places in San Francisco’s marina neighborhood.

Dining at “A16,” a restaurant that has the same name as one of the highways in southern Italy. A16’s menu is inspired by that region.

An ice cream bar in Cole Valley, San Francisco simply called “Ice Cream Bar.” It’s a 1930s-style soda fountain that serves homemade ice cream, sodas, cookies, candies, and hotdogs.

The root beer float at “Ice Cream Bar” is the best.

Here’s a pound of lobster with spaghetti at Locanda osteria and bar, my new favorite restaurant in SF.

We came across a very interesting dog while in SF.

A two-faced dog?

So who’s taking care of Max while we’re in SF?
